January Blog…
It’s January in the new year and, hopefully, by now we are all used to writing 2026 instead of 2025 on all correspondence, etc. It didn’t seem as difficult to me as in some past years, like going from 1999 to 2000. Yikes, that was 25 years ago!
Six months ago – June 1 – we donned the name of our new nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization – Community Helpers of San Fernando Valley. All the things we had to do to complete the process have been accomplished successfully, thanks to a transition team of hard workers with “stick to it until finished” attitudes. Every thing Assistance League is gone; our one room office is a little tight but we still have room for Board and committee meetings, workshops, and storage.
We are the same people with a growing membership ready to be involved in our five continuing philanthropic programs: SOS (Support Our Schools), Bear Buddies, Kids Kits, C.A.T.S. and Kits for the Homeless. (These programs are explained elsewhere on this website.) We’re working in collaboration with another nonprofit to help them by volunteering our members to work on a craft project with seniors.
And on the fundraising side of the coin, plans for our annual Spring fundraiser, Authors Luncheon, are underway. Mark your calendar now – Saturday, April 18, at the Hilton Woodland Hills. If you aren’t on our guest list now and would like to be, there is a place on this website to sign up for news from us. Last year’s was a delightful event with authors who made us laugh.
Check in every so often. You won’t know if there’s a new post on the Blog if you don’t.
