Hi, you probably clicked on Blog to see if something was in there. Surprise! There is!

As I sat in our meeting room last Wednesday, September 24, 2025, waiting for our members to enter, greet one another and sit down so our president could call the first official meeting of Community Helpers of San Fernando Valley to order, I remembered a similar meeting in September 1989.

It was the first Regular meeting of Assistance Guild of San Fernando Valley. Our president was an experienced officer, involved in other nonprofit organizations in the Valley. The group of women gathered knew each other from our three meetings that spring when we set the basics for our new nonprofit organization. I sat poised with pen in hand ready to begin taking the minutes of this red-letter day. In both cases the attendees knew they had a lot of work ahead of them to become a viable new- comer nonprofit in our community.

So here we are – 40 charter member volunteers – ready to charge ahead and prove we can do it. Check back from time to time to see how we’re doing.
